Students learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED), wound care, and addressing injuries such as heavy bleeding and burns. Standard first aid programs, the most popular course available, takes approximately 16 hours to complete.

Students are required to have complete attendance, at least 75 percent on the written exam, and good skill return demonstration to pass the program.
