Course Costs / Training fees
All fees are paid in full during enrolment, so students don’t have to worry about additional fees incurred during the training period (as is usually the case with other providers). The total fees are inclusive of taxes, certification, registration with workplace approved, tuition, and training manuals. Participants receive a workplace approved manual which they can take home and keep. Should a student be unable to complete the program, just remember to inform the staff at least 3 days beforehand to receive full refund.
What CPR Training is Available?
CPR training course are offered in three levels: “A”, “C”, and “HCP”. All levels include training with automated external defibrillators on adult and pediatric training mannequins. CPR level “A” is designed for participants that only want / need to learn about CPR rescue techniques for adult victims. Level “C”, which includes all of the concepts from level “A”, teaches participants rescue techniques for victims of all ages. CPR level “HCP” teaches participants rescue techniques for victims of all ages at a health care provider level. Trainees who are able to complete a training course are awarded a workplace approved certificate, valid for three years throughout Canada. Before the certificate expires, students can take a recertification course available at least two times a week, for approximately 4 hours.
Participants that need both first aid and CPR training can enrol in either standard, emergency or childcare first aid. The most popular course is standard first aid which is a two day course that requires 18 hours to complete. CPR level “A”, “C” or “HCP” can partner with the course. Emergency first aid is a one day basic course that takes approximately 8 hours to complete. First aid programs focus on common injuries like sprains, fractures, cuts and bruises, and the like. Skill development on wound care for these injuries is a core lesson in the program.
Private programs are also available for special training. Companies can book instructors for special training in seminars and conferences. Students who want to train at home or train employees in the workplace can also book a private instructors.
Other facts
- A student needs to have complete attendance to all classes/topics, at least 75 percent on the written exam, and good demonstration of first aid skills to pass a program.
- Mississauga First Aid does not renew expired certification so be sure to enrol for a recertification program before the certificate expires in three years.
- Participants that want to attend re-certification courses need to have either a valid standard first aid, CPR level “C” or “HCP” certificate that has been issued through St Mark James.
